Rights Respecting School

New Deer is proud to have achieved a Rights Respecting School Award, Level One, in June 2010.

We now feel that the Rights of the Child are embedded in our school ethos, and classroom practice.

Each class has a Class Charter displayed in class.  The charters are developed at the beginning of the session, by the children and their teacher. Firstly they select those rights they agree are the most important in relation to what is done in that classroom.  The children then decide how to illustrate and display them in their class.
